Sprint unveiled one of its secret plans of densifying the network by adding thousands of network enhancements using some of the most advanced technologies in wireless. Along with the network enhancements, Sprint will be adding more than 100 Sprint and Boost Mobile stores in Chicagoland and adding more than 500 new jobs.
Sprint joined Smart Chicago Collaborative and Mayor Emanuel for the launch of Connect Chicago. Last year, Sprint for Chicago donated $250,000 to Connect Chicago, an initiative led by Smart Chicago, which seeks to make Chicago the most digitally skilled, connected and dynamic city in America.
Sprint was joined by Governor Bruce Rauner to announce its four-year commitment of offering free broadband connectivity to numerous Illinois Public Schools. The high-speed LTE broadband service Sprint brings to these schools will help more than 1,600 Illinois students stay connected at-home through a Wi-Fi hotspot. The value of Sprint’s service during the term is estimated at $3 million.
